A Work in Progress
‘In Search Of Reconciliation’
“In Search of Reconciliation” a working title, is a new play currently being written by Grace O’Malley under the mentorship of Colin Murphy and with collaborative input from Director Conall Morrsion and Producer Hugh Farrell.
This new work looks back on the life of Una O’Higgins O’Malley, peace activist, poet, writer and daughter of First Minister for Justice of the Irish Free State Kevin O’Higgins. When Una was 6 months old, her father was shot and killed triggering a lifelong search for reconciliation in Una. With a group of people Una founded the Glencree Peace and Reconciliation Centre and tirelessly sought ways to find peace through non-violent means. Glencree celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2024 and this play will be held as a reading on its’ grounds in summer 2024.
N’Una was my grandmother and thanks to her book, poetry and endless letter writing I have been able to spend the last two years researching. Now it is time to write.
This play is supported by the Arts Council, Wicklow County Council and the Glencree Peace and Reconciliation Centre.
